Our Purpose

The Lambda Delta Omega Chapter was chartered June 15, 1976 in the gold room of the Town and Country Restaurant located in Williamston, N.C.  It was chartered by Janet Jones Ballard, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director.  There were nineteen chartering members: Barbara Wallace Alston, Mary Roberts Andrews, Cather Martin Broadnax, Gladys Whitehurst Bunch, LaMuriel Pierce Everett, Alma Duer Gaither, Velvora Harris Gilliam, Gloria Williams Jones, Ruth Hardy Law, Dimple Murrill Newsome, Clara Roberts Owens, Maude Wilder Ramsey, Yvonne Reddick, Marguerite Watson Royals, Eula Marriner Scott, Fannie Lee Slade, Nora Cherry Slade, Delphine Bryant Walton, and Zetella Watson Williams.  Fannie Lee Slade became the chapter’s first president.

November 12, 1977 marked the chapter’s First Biennial Debutante Presentation.  Twenty young ladies were presented in the Martin County Auditorium located in Williamston.  The theme was “Reachable Horizons - Great Promise.” 

The lovely ladies of Lambda Delta Omega are diverse and distinguished.  Our membership of 87 spans from the newly initiated to 50+ years (including 8 Gold and 27 Silver members).
